About the minor
Description of the minor
The Minor provides basic understanding of the processes in the field of textiles as well as encourages a reflective and critical approach to textile design. The content of the minor can be modified based on student’s interest and is to be discussed in the beginning of the minor studies with the teacher responsible of the minor. The courses include lectures, tutoring and hands-on assignments such as designing coordinated sample collections as well as structure and material analysis.
Intended learning outcomes
After completing the minor in Textiles - Materials and Structure the students
- understand textile design practices and processes, including tools and methods used in textile production
- are familiar with the properties of different textile fibres, materials and structures
- have experience of practice-led expression through textiles.
