Description of the minor
In this minor, students will explore various textile materials, manufacturing techniques, and the textile design process. The study of colour is integrated into the context of textile design.
Intended learning outcomes
After completing the minor, the student:
- Knows several textile materials and textile production methods
- Can design textiles and textile collections using one or more key textile manufacturing and/or finishing methods
- Recognizes the role of colour in textile design
Content description
The minor can be completed in Finnish with 18-30 credits or in English with 18-21 credits.
The only compulsory course in the minor is MUO-C1085 Tekstiilimateriaalien ja -teknologian perusteet (suomi) tai MUO-E1092 Textile Materials and Technology (englanti).
Other minor courses can be chosen from the list below; however, note that Kudottujen kankaiden suunnittelu (Woven Fabric Design) and Digitaalinen vaatesuunnittelu: tekoäly ja visuaaliset menetelmät (tähän englanninkielinen käännös) are advanced courses with prerequisites.
