Target group: Bachelor students in Design major or Bachelor's Programme in Design students. Other Aalto Bachelor students (max 20%).
Please note that Bachelor's students whose major subject is Fashion can't apply to this minor as their major studies include similar contents.

The minor must be approved in student's PSP (HOPS) in Sisu.

About the minor
Description of the minor
In this minor, students will explore various textile materials, manufacturing techniques, and the textile design process. Students can tailor their course selections to focus on specific areas within the minor, such as pattern design or structural textile design. The study of colour is integrated into the context of textile design.
Intended learning outcomes
After completing the minor, the student:
- Knows several textile materials and textile production methods
- Can design textiles and textile collections using one or more key textile manufacturing and/or finishing methods
- Recognizes the role of colour in textile design
Content description
The minor can be completed in Finnish with 18-30 credits or in English with 18-21 credits.
The only compulsory course in the minor is MUO-C1072 Tekstiili- ja vaatetusmateriaalit (Finnish) or MUO-C1079 Textile Materials and Technologies (English).
Other minor courses can be chosen from the list below; however, note that Kudottujen kankaiden suunnittelu (Woven Fabric Design) and Neulesuunnittelu (Knitwear Design) are advanced courses with prerequisites.
