About the minor
Description of the minor
Emerging technologies are transforming the profession and practices of designing. Digital technologies are increasingly important in the fashion design process, clothes production, fashion distribution and the attire itself. New technologies are also making the role of the designer more complex: they are not only expected to create designs but also to obtain basic IT skills and learn to use diverse software.
The Digital Fashion Minor encourages students to learn digital technologies, analyse current fashion practices, and learn the principles of how a digital fashion product is developed. Topics include tools in dgital fashion design, advanced surface modeling and digital sculpting and contextual studies on the effects of digitalization to the profession.
Intended learning outcomes
The Minor aims to provide students with
- in-depth understanding of the effects of digitalization and virtualization to fashion design,
- skills to use latest and most relevant digital technologies in fashion design, and
- capabilities to pursue and expand career opportunities in digital fashion design, game development or a related field.
