About the minor

Description of the minor

Art & Media minor gives a wide perspective on the field of art and media. Both contemporary art and contemporary media have roots in the certain modernist ideas of radicalism and merging of art and life. At present strong currents of multi‐ and interdisciplinary, environmental and democracy issues infiltrate into theoretical, philosophical, and practical understanding whether there is a question of game industry, everyday aesthetics and sustainability, or art and science collaboration. The multifaceted area of art and media is explored through alternative course options.

Intended learning outcomes

Courses give means to utilize ideas and theories in practical artistic work or in developing new media implementations for example in game industry. Students can also describe and discuss current trends in environmental, educational, technological, and artistic thinking. In addition, the student will understand connections of history and contemporary art and media.
