Building design studio 1, 2018 — Thinking incubator in Otaniemi
The 2018 Building Design Studio 1 focused on designing a thinking incubator on the Otaniemi campus, blending private and communal spaces. Students developed concepts through a five-step sequential method, turning ideas into architectural realities guided by seminars and collaborative critique.

Course concept
The studio is exploring the theme of an incubator for reflection and thinking, consisting of individual and common spaces for creative meditators, critical thinkers who are minded to live on the Otaniemi campus by maintaining their individuality and partly sharing their world.
Course methodology In this course students and teachers will develop together an understanding of architectural design as the ideation of concepts to be transformed into architectural realities, through a sequential design method based on five systems, five consecutive and accumulative steps to be developed in five concept seminars:
