Study Voucher event

Aalto University is organizing a separate information session on the study voucher for those who have completed upper secondary education and, in the joint application, did not receive a place at a higher education institution. The session will cover practical matters related to starting your studies in more detail, and you will also have the opportunity to meet other students beginning their studies. A study voucher is a means of payment that can be used to pay for open university studies offered by Finnish higher education institutions.

The session will be held on Thursday, 27 August, 2:30–3:30 pm, on Aalto University’s Otaniemi campus. The informational part of the event will be recorded, but otherwise the event takes place on campus. No advance registration is required.

What is a study voucher?

A study voucher is a means of payment you can use to pay for open university studies at Finnish higher education institutions. The study voucher is intended for people under 29 who have completed upper secondary education and applied in the joint application round to a higher education institution but did not receive or accept a study place.

The study voucher is a fixed-term pilot by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The first vouchers will become available in August 2026.

With the study voucher, you can take any courses offered by Aalto Open University. You can choose individual courses based on your interests in business, engineering, arts, or languages, or complete a study module. You can also choose from Open University path courses, which, once completed, allow you to apply for degree studies in technology or business. We will soon publish ready-made thematic packages that group studies by theme to make it easy to get started.
