Stuck with thesis – how to support the student?

Simo Ahonen, a study psychologist at the University of Tampere, published the book Opinnäyte jumissa (Stuck with thesis) in the autumn 2023. Simo spesialises in guiding students who are stuck with their thesis and has supported many students in overcoming challenges in their thesis process. Simo will now lead a workshop for Aalto staff together with Aalto guidance counsellor Tuuli Asunmaa and study psychologist Henna Niiva.

The workshop covers research-based information what reasons cause thesis delay, what academic emotions are involved in being stuck and how a supervisor can help a student to progress with their thesis. In addition, you will hear what services Aalto offers to thesis writers and we will discuss and reflect these themes together.
