Startup Circus x WTSUP Beirut: Fostering Giving Back Culture

What is giving back and volunteering in the entrepreneurial communities and why should you do it? What are the benefits, but also shortcomings of dedicating your time and expertise to support others? How to receive support in a country culture that is rooted of doing stuff on your own? The aim of this creative afterwork is first, to explore what exactly is giving back, why it is important for the entrepreneurial communities, how to foster the culture and what it can bring to your life.

During the event there will be a keynote from Kamilla Sultanova on volunteerism and hear views from the panelists Ilona Mooney (Work Ahead), Marcus Olsson (SceneThere / Varjo) and Simo Suonheimo (Ambronite).

As a tangible outcome to get the stuff cooking and to replace the age-old money prizes in pitching competitions, we also explore what kind of prize category/categories could be suitable and needed for startup events. The workshop dives into development of pitching competition prizes in Startup Circus (www.startupcircus.fi) that blends pitching evening with arts in Helsinki and WTSUP! Beirut that aims to foster equality and volunteerism culture in the Middle East (www.wtsup.org). If you wish to stay the whole event, you can participate in co-creating a bit of new culture with us!
