NODUS TALKS Regenerative by Design

NODUS TALKS series is organized by the NODUS Sustainable Design Research Group of Aalto University, bringing together researchers and practitioners on topics relevant to design, innovation and sustainability. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion, both held in English.

Barbara Pollini

Barbara POLLINI is Assistant Professor in Biodesign Integration at Aalto University. Her background, as a designer, researcher, and educator, is in sustainable design, material design, and biodesign. In 2023 she concluded a Ph.D. on biodesign’s potential for conventional and regenerative sustainability. Her talk will focus on material scenarios based on regenerative processes, including living and life-enabling materials.

Katri Einola

Katri EINOLA is the Lead of Regenerative Approaches at Ramboll, working especially in strategic sustainable urban development. With her background in design, horticulture, strategic thinking and futures research, her work imagines regenerative futures from different viewpoints of built environment. In her talk, she will take you on a journey from strategic to practice, reflecting on future city planning but also her own personal regenerative test lab project: an 18th-century villa and garden she is regenerating with her husband.
