Good Life Engine: You are not alone

What does loneliness mean for people in different life situations? Is loneliness a continuous experience or something that comes and goes? How can we alleviate other people's or our own loneliness?
The experience of loneliness is universal and familiar for most of us. The issue has become highly relevant during Covid-19 and the times of social distancing.
In this Good Life Engine open session, we examine loneliness from the perspective of existing research focusing on its meanings, temporal nature and factors influencing loneliness.
The event is run by Elisa Tiilikainen, a social scientist interested in issues related to social wellbeing. Currently, she works as an Assistant Professor at the University of Eastern Finland. In her book "Jakamattomat hetket. Yksinรคisyyden kokemus ja elรคmรคnkulku" Tiilikainen examined loneliness from a life course perspective identifying different pathways behind loneliness and exploring how loneliness changes in time.
Her studies have highlighted the multidimensional and dynamic nature of loneliness and its individual meanings in relation to different life events and transitions.
Join us to learn more about the multifaceted and multidimensional aspects of loneliness and find new ways of addressing loneliness!
