Final Event – Co-How
Co-How – Scrutinity of Strategy tools and Methods in Critical Transdisciplinarity is one of the ongoing Radical Creativity projects at Aalto University. Earlier the project organised two workshops, and now it is time to test out the board game Critical Transformers, which has been developed during the project!
At the event, you will hear about the Co-How project’s findings and the team will present the game. Discussions and comments are warmly welcome.
About the game
Long time since John Dewey founded critical pragmatism in the early 1900s, it is now gaining currency as an alternative to traditional division of roles with an emphasis on reconceptualizing the scholar-practitioner as a “transformative intellectual”.
Critical Transformers is a board game, which follows stages of project work. Instead of individual players, the game is at its best if two or more project groups play the game. In the beginning, each group chooses a project to work on, and each individual player a role, for instance a company’s CEO, a tourist, or a craftsperson. The stages of the project are depicted in the form of a path on the board. However as project work goes, everything is not smooth and linear, but there will be surprises on the way! The game also includes some 40 ’odd pieces’, which can be used to build a prototype in the middle of the board. If the project group so wishes, it is possible to dismantle the prototype and re-arrange it anew during the game. The project groups discuss together and give each other ’respect’ points. At the end of the game, the accumulated ’respect points’ are counted and the prototype, built out of ’odd pieces’, is presented.
Please remember to sign up by 17.10! Drinks and finger food will be served. Places are limited, so in case you would be unable to attend, please remember to cancel your participation.
The language of the event is English.
You are warmly welcome! Feel free to share the invitation among your peers and colleagues.
