EU Info Session: FINEX – European Real-World Testing and Piloting Infrastructure for Cleantech Innovation
FINEX Cleantech is part of a European initiative to accelerate regional and cross-border cleantech and deep tech innovation. The Program helps cleantech innovators test their solutions in real environments — and grow across borders. The project connects startups, research teams, and public testbeds in 6 countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Finland.
This session will introduce the FINEX Project and explain how it supports startups, scaleups, corporates, public actors, universities, universities of applied sciences and other research institutions working with cleantech solutions.
What FINEX Offers
• Matchmaking with testbeds and public actors open to piloting new solutions
• Support for pilot design, documentation, and coordination
• Access to both local and cross-border piloting environments
• No direct grants, but practical help and EU-level visibility
Who Can Join?
• Startups, scaleups or research teams with cleantech solutions at TRL 5+
• Teams ready to test in real-world conditions, not just in the lab
• Participants willing to co-design pilots with public stakeholders
• Innovators open to cross-regional collaboration
What Makes a Good FINEX Pilot?
• Clear: What’s being tested, who is involved, and how it’s measured
• Feasible: Small and focused — typically 3–6 months
• Collaborative: Co-designed with a testbed, not just “plug and play”
• Useful: Leads to learning, adaptation, and scale-up potential
