A model for porous materials that swell upon wetting

Veli-Matti Pulkkanen, M.Sc.(Tech.), will defend the dissertation "A large deformation model for chemoelastic porous media – Bentonite clay in spent nuclear fuel disposal" on Friday 5 April 2019 at 1 PM (at 13) at the Aalto University School of Science, lecture hall E, Otakaari 1, Espoo. In the dissertation, a large deformation model was developed for porous materials that swell upon wetting. The model can be used, for example, to simulate the behaviour of bentonite clay in spent nuclear fuel disposal.
