Fluid Power Projects

This page summarizes the industrial research project carried out by Aalto Fluid Power laboratory.

Nanothrust
The aim of the project is to develop a proof-of-concept actuator that converts waste heat in process industry into work. The actuator is based on the expansion of gas due to increase in heat, generating pressure which is converted into linear motion. Different methods to maximize the gas expansion and the speed of the expansion are studied. The project is funded by Business Finland and consist of a large research consortium of multiple companies and co-operation with the Tampere University.

GOOD
The aim of this project is to design and build a research environment setup for testing non-road mobile machinery. The research environment consist of multiple subsystems that are linked to the same DC electric grid. The subsystems are the mechanical powertrain, bucket actuation, steering actuation and auxiliary hydraulic components. This test setup can be used to study the operation of non-road mobile machines in different work cycles. The project is funded by Business Finland and consist of a large research consortium of multiple companies and co-operation with the Tampere University.
