Carbon Flows in the Built Environment
The projects aim to develop methods for assessing the emissions and climate impacts of the urban built environment. The goal is to support Finland’s transition toward carbon neutrality.
Cities are central to achieving climate objectives. Our research, funded by the Academy of Finland, develops advanced methodologies to measure, model, and forecast material flows, carbon footprints, and carbon handprints in the built environment. We place particular emphasis on carbon stocks and carbon sinks, examining their role in meeting Finland’s carbon neutrality target. This project is part of the Academy of Finland’s Green Transition research funding (Profi 8).
