Department of Accounting & Business Law

Societal impact

Department of Accounting aims to contribute to the business community & society at large.

At the Department of Accounting and Business Law, we believe that it is our right and responsibility to leave a positive mark not only on academic life but also on the society at large.

To accomplish this goal, the researchers at our department engage actively in societal discussions.

We consider the work on healthcare productivity at our department a prime example of our societal impact. As healthcare costs in Finland have been on the rise, it is extremely important to learn to control the costs better. Our researchers have been involved in various research projects aiming to improve productivity at the hospital level. A key part of the research has been trying to understand how hospitals could introduce cost and productivity-related facts to clinical practitioners.

For other examples of our societal impact, consider the events and publications below.
