Mikko Matilainen, Procurement Specialist
'Our procurement team has truly extensive expertise, as Aalto needs such a wide range of goods, services, and systems – from cloud services to the launch of satellites.
The goal of my work is to support Aalto in procurements related to the implementation of the digitalisation strategy. It involves planning, preparation, and implementation of calls for bids as well as contract negotiations, but also the development of the IT procurement strategy and procurement process. The best things about my work are its versatility, great co-workers, and the possibility to learn new things.
Before Aalto my career path has focused on international companies in the private sector. At Aalto I was interested in the possibility of taking part in the building of a digital university and the desire to bring the experience I have acquired at work life to benefit my alma mater - I am originally an alumnus of the Helsinki University of Technology.'
