‘If we speak of feminism, gay prides or even an anti-racism event, it feels as if a sharp counter-reaction is already generated in many people with as little as the choice of words – even though all we are dealing with in practice is equality, which should be an important matter for all of us. After a conversation with a friend, I felt a strong urge to organise an ‘equality pride’ directed towards young people. The primary message of the event would be to say without value-charged terms that we are all equal, capable of being loved, and uniquely important just as we are.’
