Universities are key actors in preparing students to address the sustainability challenges of the future. We tackle the complexity of socio-scientific issues with a multidisciplinary teaching approach in the joint international Creative Sustainability master’s programme, which brings together students from the School of Business, the School of Arts, Design & Architecture, as well as the School of Engineering.

Creative Sustainability course offerings at Aalto School of Business include:

Sustainability in Business (6 ECTS)
How to Change the World: Innovating Toward Sustainability (6 ECTS)
Dialogues on Corporate Responsibility in a Global Economy (6 ECTS)
Capstone in Creative Sustainability / project work (6 ECTS)
Sustainable Entrepreneurship (6 ECTS)
Accounting for Sustainability (6 ECTS)

We believe that developing thinking for sustainability requires stimulating peer environments, interactive teaching methods and possibilities for the hands-on experience of solving wicked sustainability problems. Through their study projects and master thesis work, our students have the opportunity to work together with established companies, start-ups, NGOs and regulators. They get to design sustainable business models and get involved in community problems that require multidisciplinary solutions.

School of Business students have the possibility to select the Sustainability Management track for their business master’s degree, while minor studies in Creative Sustainability are available to all the master-level students of Aalto University.

The New Sustainability in Business online course

In addition to the Creative Sustainability master’s programme, we also offer a free, self-paced online course called The New Sustainability in Business. The course explains how businesses can create sustainable value – not only for the economy, but also for the environment and society. It is especially designed for business practitioners and university students interested in themes like corporate social responsibility, sustainable value creation, and leading change toward sustainability.

The course – supported with the latest academic research and other key resources – contains 13 engaging and concise lessons that can be completed in a fully self-paced manner.
