About the building

The building houses Aalto University Business Students KY's Festival Hall, that can also be rented for Aalto University Student Union AYY and Aalto University schools' events. Saha with its 460 m2 uses district heating and geoenergy. The building has a geothermal power plant producing around 100 MWh per year.

Alvar Aalto's first building designed for the Otaniemi campus was a mere cold shell around the saw line for a long time, as the building did not even have insulation. Saha served the campus of the former Helsinki University of Technology during the lively construction of the 1950s and 1960s and later Saha was trained by the Wood Processing Technology Department students.
