Aalto Academic Leader Program
Aalto Academic Leader Program brings together a group of Aalto professors to discuss and gain new ideas from each other as well as from Aalto management team members and experts on different aspects of leadership.
Participants
Professors with prior academic leadership experience: associate professors or assistant professors in tenure review phase. Participation by nomination.
Objectives
- Support the academic leaders in growing as thought-leaders across the university’s borders
- Vision together the future for universities, research and teaching
- Strengthen participants’ skills in leadership and university management
- Strengthen participants' self-awareness and increase the understanding of their own leadership and influencing style
- Provide time and space for reflection and sharing and thus create a strong network among the participants
Structure and methods
Aalto Academic Leader Program lasts one academic year and consists of four thematic modules (contact sessions), group work on strategy challenge and individual work such as shadowing the department head, getting 360 feedback and individual coaching. Each module has a theme sponsor from Aalto management.
