Aalto-yliopisto on minulle erinomainen näköalapaikka tiedeyhteisöön ja sen haasteisiin. Koko Aallossa oloni ajan minulla on ollut mahdollisuus kouluttautua, oppia uutta ja edetä uusiin työtehtäviin. Haen nyt mukaan työsuojelun varavaltuutetuksi, voidakseni olla mukana työhyvinvoinnin kehittämisessä ja henkilöstön työssä viihtyvyyden parantamisessa.

Nykyisessä toimessani yliopiston yhteisissä palveluissa, olen päässyt tutustumaan uusiin haasteisiin ja mukaviin kollegoihin. – Joku sellainen hullu uteliaisuuteni on pitänyt minut mukana tässä kiinnostavassa työssä.

Olen toiminut koripallovalmentajana yli 25 vuotta, jossa korostuu joukkuehengen merkitys, hyvinvointi ja yhteisöllisyys. Valmentajana olen joutunut ratkomaan erilaisia ongelmia ja tilanteita, joita voi hyvinkin verrata työyhteisöön.

Toisaalta taas kokemus entisissä työpaikoissa on antanut perspektiiviä myös asiointiin työnantajapuolen kanssa. Olen toiminut turva-alalla: Vartioässät, Engel ja Securitas sekä tekniikan parissa yli 10 vuotta. Minulla on tekniikan alalta elektroniikka-asentajan koulutus sekä turvallisuusalan erikoisammatti kurssi suoritettuna. Opiskelin myös As Oy isännöitsijäksi, joten nekin työt ovat tuttuja. Isännöinnin parista siirryin Aallon palvelukseen.

Tavoitteeni on tulla valituksi työsuojelun varavaltuutetuksi ja mahdollisesti myöhemmin vaikuttamaan myös työsuojeluvaltuutettuna. Koen suurimpana haasteena Aallossa sen, että organisatoristen muutosten myötä yhteisö on pilkkoutunut ja samalla on kadonnut jotakin yhteishengestäkin, varsinkin korona-aika on lisännyt tuota sirpaleisuutta. Tuon asian kuntoon saattaminen olisi listan ykkösenä.

Numeroni 2 valitsee minut varavaltuutetun 1 tai 2 tehtäviin vaaleissa.

I've been involved with Aalto University since 2010, and through my work at the Communications Department I've been able to get to know nearly all the units at all the schools, including research, teaching and services. So I'm quite familiar with the U-level environment spanning many years.

During the ongoing 2-year period I've worked as one of our Deputy Occupational Safety Representatives for the U-level. I've also served as one of our harassment contact persons for the past year, and in addition I'm acting as the communications representative at the Occupational Safety Committee.

I've constantly tried to improve our work environment and the wellbeing of my colleagues with a firm belief in pre-emptive measures for example in the matters of preventing burnout, and fixing the effects of long-term work-related strain. I'm aiming at affecting the U-level work wellbeing with an empathic approach, while trying to influence the bigger picture.

My candidate number for the election is number 4, and I'm running for any of the positions, so if you found the above making sense, please remember to vote for all the positions separately!

Dear voter of the Aalto joint services. I have worked as a safety representative in Aalto's joint services in 2020 -21, and if you want, also the coming two-year term. As a safety representative, I have been involved in tasks related in statutory occupational health and safety, and sought the implementation of a safe, healthy and ergonomic working environment that supports work in Aalto. Although the physical environment of work has been constantly changing in Aalto in recent years, the mental well-being of work communities and employees have been my main concern as a representative.

As a representative, it has been rewarding having had the opportunity to help individuals as well as entire communities. I've had the change to support individual community members when being at work has been a challenge, or when the expectations of work has not been reached by all participants. Sometimes, when communities are in crisis of external and internal pressures, I have had the change to help. As representative (chosen by colleagues) my aim has always been to help find the solution that best serves the workers.
