The most active research currently focuses on antimicrobial activity of novel materials.  Research is also carried out on regulatory issues on biological products, supply chain management of such products and their route to the market.  In addition, research on engineering education is a central theme of the group and is ingrained into national and international initiatives on integration of entrepreneurship into engineering and technology education. Methods for online, computer supported education and virtual learning environments are also developed.

Research Group of Microbiology is lead by Prof. Katrina Nordström.
