‘I’d gotten to know Kenneth Blomqvist through the activities of Aaltoes. We had lost our rental flat at the end of spring, so we decided to spend the summer in China – because it is cheaper to live there. We started to study how machine learning could be utilised in the field of robotics. Many industrial robots work well in closed settings, but using them in processes that demand flexibility is, at present, impossible.

China provided an excellent environment for delving into this subject and conducting our first experiments. We’re now getting together a team to take part in Amazon’s annual robotics contest. In a way, this is like a Formula One event in robotics, where teams from various top universities compete in building solutions for utilising robots in warehouses.’
