Micronova är Finlands nationella forskningsinfrastruktur för mikro- och nanoteknologi, gemensamt drivet av Finländska teknologiska forskningscentralen VTT och Aalto-universitetet. Forskningen vid Micronova fokuserar på mikro- och nanoteknologi, material- och fysikalisk fysik samt optik.
Micronova is an open research environment and we welcome companies to use the facilities and the combined expertise of Aalto and VTT in the area of micro and nanotechnology. We can offer dedicated laboratories and office space.
Within VTT Group, commercial production of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and other micro- and nanoelectronic devices is carried out through VTT Memsfab Ltd. The company offers versatile contract manufacturing services based on extensive technical expertise, a unique equipment environment of Micronova and a comprehensive co-operation network.
VTT and Aalto University renewed in autumn 2012 their mutual agreement on cooperation at Micronova. With the new agreement also Micronova’s administrative structures were changed and the Micronova Board of Directors was replaced by the new Micronova Steering Board.
As a National Research Infrastructure Micronova provides open access to the cleanrooms to all. Scientists from the University of Helsinki, University of Turku and University of Jyväskylä have used our facilities, as have those from several companies.

The Electron Physics group is part of the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, Aalto University. Our research and education is focused on semiconductor materials and device physics.
The Micro and Quantum Systems group is part of the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, Aalto University. The group is located in the nanofabrication research center Micronova.
The Optoelectronics group is part of the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, Aalto University. The group is located in the nanofabrication research center Micronova.
The Photonics Group is part of the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, Aalto University. The group studies electrical and optical properties of various nanomaterials for photonic and optoelectronic applications. The group is located in the Micronova Research Center.
The research of the Optics and Photonics group covers a range of topics of modern optics and photonics, encompassing various aspects of light-matter interaction, optical coherence and polarization, development of methods to manipulate light with nano- and micro-structures, design and construction of novel light sources, optical metamaterials and optical imaging.
We have a major effort on experimental low-temperature physics, but we also carry out computational and theoretical work down to fundamental quantum mechanics.
We investigate mesoscopic physics and its sensor applications. The main focus is on charge transport and thermal properties of metallic, superconducting and hybrid nanostructures.
