Two doctoral degrees in materials technology and in composite materials.

A member of the management committee (representative of Finland) in biomedical sectors COST MP1005, MP1301, CA17116 member of the European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS), European Connected Health Alliance (ECHA), full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Highest Education (Ukraine), Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (Finland Chapter), and honorary member of TechNet Alliance and Centre of Excellence of MEMS (University of Minho, Portugal).

Has more than 30 years experience in technology transfer being member and leader in BC-Net (EC DG Enterprise) and national technology transfer and consulting activities in EU, Japan and the Middle East. He is also an expert and rapporteur to European bodies (EC/REA, FCH JU, CleanSky JU, ERC, COST, ERANET and framework programs) since 1993. Reviewer in many journals and research funding organizations (Portugal, Cyprus, Estonia, Luxembourg, Poland).

Over last 25 years has carried out 10 EU projects, 2 IEA projects and more than 15 national projects. Over 300 publications, papers, books, chapters, abstracts and patent applications.
