The course is intended to provide an overall understanding of logistics and distribution networks. Students will understand how logistics activities are to be organized, and how they play a key role for global businesses in a turbulent and constantly changing marketplace. The course will also provide insights into the diverse operational and strategic content of logistics/distribution, which is essential for the effective management of global supply chains that have become more complex with a multitude of challenges.
The course topics include an overview of global logistics, logistics infrastructure, logistics and the spatial networks, modes of transportation, transportation planning and execution, logistics outsourcing, transportation network design and optimization, logistics inventory management, and distribution networks and retailing.
