Talk Abstract:

In this talk, Dr. Yan Jin will present theoretical frameworks and empirical evidences, from interdisciplinary collaborations and via multi-method approaches, on the role of strategic communication in times of risk, conflict, and crisis. The imperative of integrating human intelligence and artificial intelligence in building a more effective and ethical crisis (mis)information management system will be examined in light of the social-mediated crisis communication (SMCC) model, crisis information vetting process, and crisis misinformation and corrective communication framework developed by Dr. Jin and her research teams. Challenges and opportunities for tackling complex crisis issues, ensuring business continuity, and safeguarding health and wellbeing in the post-COVID era will be further discussed.
