ABC -seminaari: Positron emission tomography imaging to identify brain structures critical for human consciousness

This time, Harry Scheinin (University of Turku) will try to demonstrate how state-of-the-art clinical pharmacology and innovative study design solutions can be utilized to separate brain activity changes specific to consciousness from the direct or indirect other drug effects on the brain.

Positron emission tomography imaging to identify brain structures critical for human consciousness

Associate Professor Harry Scheinin, M.D., leads the Anesthesia Mechanisms Research Group at the University of Turku, Finland, and has studied neurobiological effects of anesthetic agents for over 25 years. He is the Principal Investigator of the Neural Mechanisms of Anesthesia and Human Consciousness project (NCT01889004 and NCT02624401). In his presentation, he will try to demonstrate how state-of-the-art clinical pharmacology and innovative study design solutions can be utilized to separate brain activity changes specific to consciousness from the direct or indirect other drug effects on the brain. The project has been funded by the Academy of Finland and Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.
