Nokia Foundation will open the call for applications for Nokia Scholarships and Jorma Ollila Grants on August 7, 2023.
- The Nokia Scholarship is intended to encourage efficient, fast-progressing doctoral studies and research. Nokia Scholarships are granted to individuals pursuing a doctoral degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) or in clearly related supporting scientific disciplines. Scholarship can be granted for doctoral studies in a Finnish university or to a Finnish applicant for doctoral studies abroad. Nokia Scholarship | Nokia Foundation
- Jorma Ollila Grant is targeted towards recently graduated doctors including Assistant Professors to further develop their research career in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) or in supporting scientific disciplines. Jorma Ollila Grant | Nokia Foundation
These personal grants are awarded for the purpose of gaining international experience and research excellence for a period of 6 to 12 months. All applications should comply with the charter of Nokia Foundation. In particular, the research should:
- Relate to Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) — this can include multidisciplinary research that strongly bridges other related fields, like social, behavioral, economics and service sciences, to Information and Communications Technologies (ICT).
- Support and promote education and research within Finland.
- Relate to one of the following focus areas of the Jorma Ollila special fund: 1) Data Science and AI, including research on novel methods, tools, applications and implementations of data science, machine learning and augmented as well as artificial intelligence, 2) Wireless and Network Technologies, including research on future networking and communication technologies for fixed and wireless connectivity 3) Future Microelectronics, including research on enablers and practices of information and communication driven technologies, methods and systems for the digital revolution.
We would like to also remind you of the Nokia Visiting Professor grant as well as of the Fulbright-Nokia Distinguished Chair in Information and Communications Technologies calls for applications.
- Grants for Nokia Visiting Professors are given to distinguished foreign professors to work in Finland, or to deserving Finnish professors working at respected foreign universities in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). The minimum period for the visit is two months. Visitors coming to Finland must typically participate in research work, give lectures and collaborate with Finnish companies. - The Fulbright-Nokia Distinguished Chair in Information and Communications Technologies offers a unique opportunity for an American scholar to engage in an international research collaboration. The Chair position is available for scholars and specialists in Information and Communications Technologies and includes research and lecturing at a higher education institution in Finland.
