Philip Hector's research focuses on the increasing amount of Do-it-yourself and peer production initiatives such as repair cafes and cultural laboratories. He is interested in the potential of these initiatives for imagining and practising different ways of collective organising and personal well-being. To do so he looks at the transactions of practices, skills and artifacts between these “part-time utopias” and the everydaylife of the respective people.
As teaching assistant Philip is involved in the courses Sustainable Product and Service Design as well as Design Leadership and Strategy.
