D.Sc. (Tech.), Docent Marjatta Louhi-Kultanen is a professor (Assoc. Prof., tenure track) of Chemical Engineering in Aqueous Systems in the School of Chemical Engineering at Aalto University. Her new research group initiated at Aalto in 2017. Earlier she worked as a professor of Thermal Unit Operations at Lappeenranta University of Technology in the School of Engineering Science. The main lines in her research strategy are separation science with the aim to develop purification and separation technologies, to enhance recovery and recycling of substances from aqueous solutions and to approach zero-discharge effluents. Focus areas are a) purification, separation and concentration by crystallization, b) solid-liquid unit operations, c) wastewater treatment, d) solid-liquid equilibrium, e) real-time process monitoring and process analytical technology.
