Arkkitehtuuria sopimattomalla puulla - luonnonmuotoisen puun käyttö arkkitehtuurissa ja rakentamisessa
Väitöskirjatutkimuksessa käsitellään uuden arkkitehtuurityylisuunnan mahdollisuuksia, jossa käytetään ”kokopuuta” tai ”sopimatonta puuta”, joka on vähän muokattua tai muokkaamatonta luonnollisen muotoista puuta, mikä ei sovi nykyisten puurakennustuotteiden vaatimuksiin. Tutkimus jatkaa Pikku-Finlandia-rakennuksen teemaa, jossa käytettiin kantavina pilareina oksallisia männyn latvarunkoja, mitkä tyypillisesti käytetään sellun tai energian tuotantoon. Tutkimuksessa selvitetään, mitä vaikutuksia vajaasti hyödynnetyllä puumateriaalilla voi olla arkkitehtuurissa esteettisesti, rakenteellisesti ja ympäristön kannalta.
