Join this short course focusing on listening skills and become more aware of this super skill of social interaction. Listening has a clear connection to individual as well as organizational well-being.

During this short course focusing on nonverbal communication, you’ll find out how our bodily presence affects communication. How we encounter each other and the atmosphere we create through our actions makes a difference.

LC-0530 Public speaking and stage fright (this group in English) 26.4.-7.6.2024 

How to channel the nervousness in public speaking situations into a boost of energy? This public speaking skills course is meant especially for those who experience their nervousness or stage fright as a problem or are otherwise interested in the topic.    

LC-0520 Impact and argumentation (this group in English) 17.4-29.5.2024  

How to formulate your ideas or thoughts effectively and persuasively or how to prepare for a panel discussion? These and other questions related to argumentation and influencing are discussed in this course, jump in! 

LC-0320 Public speaking skills (this group in Finnish) 6.5.-3.6.2024 

Refine your presentation skills on this in-depth presentation skills training. Lot of practical exercises from improv to academic presentations and pitching.  
 

LC-0340 Communication competence in the workplace (this group in Finnish) 29.4.-3.6.2024 

Effective communication skills are seen as part of crucial skills in the workplace. Enhance eg. your decision-making, problem-solving and meeting skills among others.

The capacity to communicate and work effectively and appropriately together with people from different backgrounds is increasingly seen as a vital core competence for graduates. 

This course will enable you to establish relevant knowledge and communication skills to work effectively in Global Virtual Teams (GVTs). You will be working in small teams with students from different Unite! universities to complete the coursework. This will give you exciting learning opportunities to link the course materials with authentic teamwork experiences.

Key topics to be covered in the course

  • Key characteristics of Global Competence & Global Virtual Teams (GVTs)
  • Identifying common communication challenges (e.g. workflow, technological, and interpersonal challenges) in GVTs
  • Effective use of ‘metacommunication (i.e. communication about communication)’ in GVTs
  • Effective use of technologies in GVTs

When? 

The online course takes place Tuesdays between 23 April to 28 May 2024 at EET 10:15-12:30.
