Aalto University operates actively in global and national sustainability networks.
Aalto Sustainability Hub
Founded in 2018, Aalto Sustainability Hub addresses diverse societal challenges by increasing dialogue between different scientific fields and social actors. Our mission is to create a world-class research and learning environment focused on sustainability and circular economy. The aim is to bring new, interdisciplinary understanding of the systemic solutions needed for a sustainable future.
Strategic ideas guiding the work of Aalto Sustainability Hub
We see the world as interconnected systems, where human societies and nature are inextricably interlinked.
We engage in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, we work cross disciplinary boundaries and beyond the academia, with partners from different sectors of society.
Campus as living lab
We experiment our sustainability research with our immediate surroundings, Aalto University campus.
Aalto Sustainability Hub network’s activities began in 2018. The objectives of the network are to bring researchers from different fields together, facilitate the inclusion of sustainable development perspectives in teaching and to promote sustainable development as an extensive part of the university’s operation.
The objective at Aalto University is that sustainable development and responsibility are present in all activities, teaching, and research.
Aalto is the first Finnish university to sign universities' global Sustainable Development Goals Accord.
