Admission to Master of Science in Technology, Architecture or Landscape Architecture (2 yrs)

The admissions to master’s programmes at Aalto University are organised once a year. The application period for studies starting in autumn 2019 is 3 December 2018 - 11 January 2019.

Selection schedule

Application period for studies starting in autumn 2019 runs from 3 December 2018 to 11 January 2019 (3 pm).

3 Dec 2018 at 9:00 (9 am GMT +2:00) Application period begins, application system opens.
11 Jan 2019 at 15:00 (3 pm, GMT +2:00) Application period ends, application system closes. Deadline for required application documents (including English language test results) to be received by Admission Services.
January - March Academic assessment: eligible applications are evaluated by programme staff.
27 March 2019 Admission results are published.
31 May 2019 at 15:00 (3 pm, GMT +3:00) Deadline for accepting offered study place.
31 July 2019 Deadline for graduation for applicants applying with an incomplete degree.
7 Aug 2019 at 15:00 (3 pm, GMT +3:00) Attested copy of degree certificate (and its authorised translation) must be received by Admission Services (applicants with incomplete degree). Deadline for submitting National Certificate of Language Proficiency ("yleinen kielitutkinto") result in Finnish language (concerns only studies in Finnish).
August - September 2019 Term starts with orientation to studies.

Who can apply

How to apply

Application period to Master's studies beginning in autumn 2019 is 3 December 2018 - 11 January 2019 (3 pm).

An online application form is filled in the Aalto University's application system and hard copies of the application documents need to be submitted by mail or in person to the Admission Services of the university. The documents need to arrive before the end of the application period.

Admission is primarily based on previous academic record. There are no entrance examinations. The academic evaluation of the applications is done by the programme staff. You can apply for a maximum of two study options in the field of science and technology.

Required documents

An application consists of the online application form; printed and signed cover letter; a set of compulsory documents; and programme-specific documents if they are required by the study option(s) you are applying for.

You can fill in the application form in the application system during the application period. You can print the cover letter once you have filled in, saved and submitted the application form in the application system. Please read the instructions for applying and the programme-specific evaluation criteria carefully before filling in the application form or submitting any documents.

Make sure to deliver all the documents you wish to be taken into consideration in the application process within the application period. Documents delivered after the given deadline cannot be taken into consideration in the evaluation of the application. Applicants will not be requested to supplement the application with programme-specific documents.

Application documents are not returned to applicants.

Language requirements

Applicants must have an excellent command of the instruction language of the study option. The majority of the study options in the field of science and technology are offered in English.

Tuition fees and scholarships

There is a tuition fee for students who are not citizens of the member states of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland. Tuition fees are charged in programmes taught in English.
