Ari Sihvola is President of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) during the triennium 2023-26. He is professor of electromagnetics at Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering with interest in electromagnetic theory, complex media and metamaterials, materials modelling, remote sensing, and radar applications. In more general, he has worked on the history of electrical engineering and education in electromagnetics, writing publications and organizing sessions in electromagnetics conferences on these topics.
