URHEA - The Helsinki Metropolitan Area sports academy
The Helsinki Metropolitan Area sports academy Urhea started in 2003. It is approved by the Finnish Olympic Committee official elite sports academy. Urhea works in close collaboration with the Olympic Committee’s top sports unit.
The Helsinki Metropolitan Area sports academy Urhea is a foundation whose goals include supporting athletes in combining sports and studies and developing means to make this easier. Urhea’s activities are intended for young athletes who are either aiming for the top or are already competing at the international level.

As one of Urhea’s partners, Aalto University helps Urhea members flexibly combine their athletic careers and studies, taking account of the specific challenges and demands that a career in sports poses for the scheduling of studies, for example. Students who are Urhea members can also take the following courses and include them in the elective studies section of their degree:

- JOIN-E1000 Utilising sports skills in career planning
