Certificates are used to authenticate the identity of a server or service. University units can obtain certificates by submitting a request for a certificate through the IT Service Desk. No separate fee is charged for any certificates. Certificates are usually valid for one year.
A certificate ties secret and public keys used in electronic identification and authentication to each other. A certificate helps ensure, with reasonable certainty, the identity of an online service, for instance. The current supplier of certificates is Digicert. No fee is charged for any certificates.
If a certificate must be blocked before expiry, it can be added to the block list at the request of the information security officer.
No certificates are offered to students or student unions.
