Students helped Finavia to analyze the terminal logistics at Helsinki Airport
The unexpectedly rapid recovery of air travel has caused capacity issues
The airport company Finavia joined the School of Business’ Premium Partner program in 2019. Finavia's goal for the cooperation is to acquaint students with the company's diverse and unique job opportunities and also to find new experts for future expert positions.
Finavia is a Finnish airport company that manages and develops 20 airports in Finland. The company serves Finnish and international passengers, and the airlines are also it’s customers. The most important task is to ensure that travel from Finland to the world and back is smooth. There are about 1,100 Finavia employees across Finland. We at Finavia help bring the world closer.
Professionals from many different fields work at Finavia. For our students, interesting tasks are, for example, tasks in logistics and information technology in a unique airport environment. There are also suitable positions for our students and professionals who have graduated from us in other Finavia units and at different airports. Finavia's field of activity is quite international, and most positions require good knowledge of the English language.
Our students have already been able to solve quite interesting projects with Finavia, both through customized business projects and smaller course assignments. The various projects offer a great vantage point for one of the key industries in terms of the Finnish national economy.
The theme of sustainable development is important to Finavia and reflected in the cooperation. As sustainable development is also strongly integrated into teaching at the School of Business, the co-operation offers the students challenging and interesting real-life problems to be solved. For example, Finavia has determinedly reduced the emissions of its own operations, and all 20 airports are carbon neutral. The next goal of the development work is net zero emissions.
Finavia is constantly renewing and developing itself. The largest extension project in it’s history is underway at the moment at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Finavia’s goal is to develop the airport's services and customer experience and to strengthen Helsinki-Vantaa's position as a major layover airport in Europe. Digital solutions are key elements in designing and developing the services.
