Summer trainee or M.Sc. thesis worker position on intelligent robotic instruments

Imagine a musician playing an instrument in a surgery room in a hospital, and, according to the musical notes that he plays, he can direct a drug inside a patient’s body and cure the patient. Are you interested to be a part of the research towards such a goal?

We are looking for a talented student to develop a robotic kit for the manipulation of miniature objects with sound. The robotic kit will be used for educational and scientific purposes. The scientific paper describing the corresponding research topic can be found here:

Requirements and details:

As a successful applicant you should be highly motivated in designing software and preparing easy-to-follow guides for a robotic manipulation system. This position requires meticulousness and attention to detail. The applicant is expected to have software skills (preferably Python), hands-on experience, and willingness to work with robotics and mechatronic systems. Additionally, skills in computer vision and control engineering are considered an advantage.

The position on intelligent robotic instruments is opened for Robotic Instruments group ( at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation in Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering. The position is available for summer 2021 (May/June-August or agreed separately). The salary is based on the university salary scheme.

The position can start as either a summer trainee or a M.Sc. thesis worker. For the summer trainee applicant, upon completion of the work and based on the quality of the applicant, the candidate can potentially continue as a M.Sc. thesis worker.
