We are looking for a PhD candidate to work in Academy of Finland project: “Nanocarbon materials for sustainable battery technology (NACAB)”. The project aims at developing new carbon-based nanoporous electrode materials fabricated using renewable source materials, such as nanocellulosic precursors, for different battery chemistries (Li and Na based). The chosen person would work as a part of a bigger team consisting of computational and experimental scientists.
We offer state-of-the art electrochemical facilities, in depth experience in fabricating, analyzing and applying carbon-based nanomaterials as well as an ecosystem fostering individual talent in a supporting and encouraging environment.
Who can apply?
The prospective candidate should have a suitable background (MSc) in physics, chemistry, materials science, or electrochemistry. Command of typical electroanalytic techniques including, but not limited to, cyclic voltammetry (CV), rotating disk electrode (RDE) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is expected. Ability to work independently as well as in a team in wet lab setting is also expected.
In this position you are expected to apply the study right for doctoral studies in Aalto University. Please check the student information and application criteria. In particular, please pay attention to the mandatory skill level in English. You are expected to achieve your PhD degree within approximately 4 years.
The expected starting salary for a doctoral candidate is approximately 2500 € per month, and the salary will increase with responsibilities and performance over time. In addition to the salary, the contract includes occupational health benefits.
