JOIN THE PROJECT ‘PERSONALIZED MEDICINE WITH MASS PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY’ TO BUILD A VIRTUAL CARE OPERATOR
A consortium organized by Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Management (HEMA) at Aalto University, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, and Helsinki University, School of Medicine, has received funding from Business Finland for a two-year project MASSE: Personalized Medicine with Mass Production Efficiency. This Service Engineering project will build a Virtual Care Operator (VCO) to integrate and coordinate the care of patients with long-term medical conditions. Various digital technologies and Service Science principles will be used to develop daily management capabilities that mimic the role of a Family doctor. It is expected that the VCO platform will support the distribution, implementation, and export of several devices, software, and digital therapies.
MASSE project is now recruiting Masters and Doctoral students and possibly also Postdoctoral researchers to work on various tasks within the project.
Several relevant educational backgrounds will be considered, such as: Industrial Engineering and Management, Medical studies, Data science, Information and Communication Technologies, Medical devices, Bio-informatics, Business Administration, Health Economics, and Public Health.
High level analytical, social, and communicative skills are required. The successful candidates will be assigned to work on specific cases of the project which entails close cooperation with the case companies. Proficiency in the Finnish language is not a must; however, the successful candidate needs to be able to function in the Finnish healthcare ecosystem of private and public players.
Industry experience is considered a merit.
Thesis supervision is provided wholly or in part within the project, however, the theses can be submitted to the researchers’ home department as agreed. If chosen for the Doctoral student position, the applicant has to apply for and get the right to pursue doctoral studies at Aalto University.
Compensation will follow the general rules applied at Aalto University.
MASSE project has started in 2020 and will end in autumn 2022. Applicants that can start immediately are encouraged to apply now. However, several work packages and tasks are scheduled to start at different stages of the project. Therefore, potential applicants who could consider starting in June or September 2021 or later are also encouraged to express their interest now.
If you would like to be considered for any of the positions available, please submit your application by Monday, 30 November 2020, through our recruitment system by using the “Apply now!” link below.
Applicants should submit their CV, study record, and a free-format motivation letter explicating the applicants background, interests and a personal vision of research concerning care coordination of patients with long-term medical conditions or other themes related to the MASSE project.
