School of Chemical Engineering is now looking for a motivated

Doctoral candidate to computational chemistry group

Do you have background in computational chemistry and are searching for an opportunity to use your knowledge and develop your competence further?

The Department of Chemistry and Materials Science is looking for a doctoral candidate to join a group of scientist lead by Professor Kari Laasonen. You would be participating an EU project ComBat focusing on developing new chemicals to flow batteries. Our part in this project is to model electron transfer reactions. We are using a newly developed Constrained DFT methods to evaluate the Marcus theory parameters with ab initio molecular dynamics. This position is also a great opportunity to develop your collaboration skills since the modelling work is done in collaboration with the electrochemistry and synthetic organic chemistry groups.

Requirements

You have a Master’s degree preferably in Physical chemistry, Physics or equivalent fields. You have good background of computational chemistry. Your knowledge of electrochemistry, ab initio molecular dynamics and/or CDFT will be counted as your advantage.

In this position, you will apply the study right for doctoral studies in Aalto University. Thus, please check the student information and application criteria. In particular, please pay attention to mandatory skill level in English.

Salary and contract terms

The expected starting salary for a doctoral candidate is approximately 2450€/month and salary will increase with responsibilities and performance over time.
