Data Warehouse Developer

We are now looking for a Data Warehouse Developer to join our team.

Your role and goals

As a Data Warehouse developer in our team you participate in the development and implementation of our on-premise Data Warehouse. Also, you participate in our journey to DW cloud.

In this role you:

  • Design, build, and support Data Warehouses.
  • Develop and maintain data models and solution architecture.
  • Work directly with the Data Warehouse Solution Owner to translate Aalto’s strategic vision into actionable Data Warehouse team initiatives.
  • Build and maintain database tables, views, and stored procedures.
  • Extract and clean data from multiple sources to load into the Data Warehouse.
  • Translate the needs of analytics and business stakeholders into the design of a Data Warehouse that meets their current and future needs.
  • Coordinate with IT operations infrastructure team to align appropriate resources for the Data Warehouse.
  • Add new data to the warehouse as business needs evolve and underlying source systems are enhanced.

Your experience and ambitions

You have experience in Data Warehouse environment : 

  • Experience developing data warehouses, data migrations, data transformations, and data architecture.
  • Strong SQL background.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures preferred.
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing system requirements.
  • Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills; as well as the ability to make good judgment and work with both technical and business personnel.
  • Proven critical-thinking skills and problem-solving attitude.

You follow the field actively and have a good understanding of the latest trends. 

You understand modern IT solutions, cloud services and their utilization (e.g. Azure). 

You work well independently and together with team members

You have ability to take responsibility even on busy schedules 

You have good cooperation and good communication skills

With your customer service orientation and capability to influence in matrix organization, you are able to participate in agile way of working in collaboration across the University.

Aalto University is an international working environment, so we expect you to have good English language. Finnish language skills are an advantage.
