Phone Reform – Mobile tools to support Digitalization

List of recommended phone models in Aalto University has been renewed.

Now the list consists models that are valid and relatively new, but cost effectiveness kept in mind. Digitalization requires decent and up-to-date tools! Unfortunately, at present, only about every fourth Aalto University employees has enough modern mobile phone to support mobilization and digitalization. It even is a great security risk.

Aalto University now wants to enable workers to mobilize and work / travel safely. By decision given at June 15th a centralized refund will be given (until the end of the year, according to the decision from 15 June), unless otherwise stated. The refund is 150 € / new or renewed phone, for each employee (over 6 months of employment, but not for undergraduate students). Everyone in this category should have a smartphone and mobile subscription at Aalto University!

You can find the list of recommended phone models here: https://inside.aalto.fi/display/ITPK/Puhelinmallit  and ordering of the mobile phones and subscriptions is to be done via our electronic order form: https://workflow01.org.aalto.fi/Aalto-puhelin-ja-liittymatilaus/

In this Phone reform are included those who do not have a smartphone, or whose phones are outdated technically and security is inadequate. These are the phones: Windows Phones, phones with Android 5.1 or older or Apple phones with iOS 9 or older and basic phones. For these, the 150€ of a new phone order will be refunded as mentioned.

NOTE! The refund is only given to the models ordered from our list of recommended mobile phones or models that are newer or same models but better versions. The refund is given to the phones found from the electronic order form and done via the electronic order form. The financial compensation is done centrally and the way to do it is informed later on. The campaign will end this year, unless otherwise stated.

Mobile phone and mobile subscription are connected to work- and travel safety via for example emergency communication and big part of this campaign is that everyone should have their correct phone number information in Aalto systems. Everyone can check and update their information in https://password.aalto.fi
