Beat the Blues! - events for Aalto international students

Beat the Blues! are Wellbeing-themed events for all international students at Aalto organized by Starting Point of Wellbeing. Come as you are! We are offering a place to share experiences, make new friends and maybe learn something new about surviving - and thriving - in Finland!

Themes for the events are:

Thu 22.9.22 at 16-18: Living in Finland (Register in here)

Join us and share your experiences of how has it been to live in Finland, so far? What has surprised you? What has brought you joy? Has something been difficult and if so, how have you overcome it? How have your encounters with Finns been? Have you made new friends?

This autumn’s first Beat the Blues event (Thu 22.9, 16.00-18.00) offers a space and time for discussing and reflecting with other international students. We will start with a short introduction on how to make friends and connect in Finland, from study psychologist Henna Niiva, and continue with relaxed workshopping around these themes. Coffee&tea and some snacks provided!

Thu 27.10.22 at 16-18: Culture shock? (Register in here)

This autumn’s second Beat the Blues event: We will start with a short introduction (by Mari Dagnall) to culture shock, and continue with relaxed workshopping around these themes. Coffee&tea and some snacks provided! More information coming soon.

Thu 24.11.22 at 16-18: Beat the Winter-blues! (Register in here)

We will start with a short introduction (by Saara Ahtola from HelsinkiMissio) to winter-blues and how to beat it, and continue with relaxed workshopping around these themes. Coffee&tea and some snacks provided! More information coming soon.

Thu 15.12.22 at 16-18: : Farewell 2022 - Welcome 2023 (Register in here)

Come to celebrate the past autumn and welcoming the upcoming year. We will start with a talk from Marjaana Faugel (Aalto-chaplain) and continue with relaxed workshopping and easy craft-making. Coffee&tea and some snacks provided! More information coming soon.

Events will be on campus (Otakaari 1, U523 Top Lounge) and are open to all international students at Aalto.

Events are free of charge. However, we wish that you register in advance for each event you are taking part in (so that we are able to prepare enough snacks and coffee for everybody).
