Health and wellbeing development

Health and wellbeing represent one of the key research areas of the university. Promoting research and providing technologies for the use of innovations, growth companies and business in general are at the core of what we do.
Terveys ja hyvinvointitutkimusta

We are an active participant in the fields of health and well-being. Our wide-ranging portfolio of research activities include for example healthcare and wellbeing devices, data science related to health and wellbeing, biomaterials, biotechnologies, research related to drug development, as well as the technologies that form the foundation for these activities. Our work helps develop social health and wellbeing globally in a variety of ways.

Health and wellbeing is an area where a great number of innovations are called for. At Aalto University, basic research results are developed into innovations, applications, and services for end users. In this way, research is responding to societal needs.

Locally, we also aim to become a contributor in the massive renewal process facing the university hospital district of Helsinki region during the next decade. A large share of research is already done in close collaboration with the University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital. Their expertise in medical science and clinical research complements our primarily technology-oriented approach.
