Aaltonaut Minor Programme

Aalto-yliopisto, Otaniemi stories: Elina Kähkönen, vastaava opettaja, Aaltonautti / Kuvaaja: Sinikoski

Aaltonaut 2013 established a bachelor’s minor programme for the students in Aalto University. The focus is on interdisciplinary product development and the entrepreneurial mindset, and most importantly on contributing to the students’ learning.

To facilitate this goal, opportunities for co-operation projects with companies have been built into six of the Aaltonaut courses. The co-operation varies from product development tasks to business model development and to life cycle assessments. The courses are compact — 5 ECTS large, 2 periods long. During the courses, different projects are carried out by interdisciplinary teams of 5 – 6 students. There is no fee for participation in these Bachelor’s level courses. Moreover, these Aaltonaut courses are ongoing throughout the study year. Co-operation proposals for upcoming courses are taken into consideration on a continual basis.
