In this course, we will look at how to navigate in Finnish working life and how to find a job. We explore working life in Finland from societal, organisational and individual perspectives. Once you have finished this course, you will have a better understanding of work culture in Finland, what working in a Finnish company is like, how individuals find work-life balance in Finland, how to communicate your skills, and how to look for jobs in Finland.

This course has been designed as a starting point for understanding Finnish working life and building your career in Finland. The course has been authored by recruitment and career specialists and offers you a curated collection of insights on working in Finland in an easily accessible course format, which you can complete at your own time and pace. The course offers Finnish working life perspectives from societal, organisational and individual levels as well as practical know-how. Finland Works is an open online course. The course material is divided into five (5) chapters.

Self-directed studying

  1. Find the course here.
  2. Get acquainted with the course contents. The course is divided into five chapters, which all have four sections.
  3. After each section, there will be either a multiple-choice quiz or self-reflection questions.
  4. In order to pass the course, you will need to pass all assignments.
  5. After successfully completing the course you will have the possibility to purchase a certificate and you are eligible to apply for 2 ECTS.

Enrolment options

  1. Register now for the course. For Aalto University students, enrol on the course Finland Works MNGT-C1005 on Sisu.
  2. You can choose to either audit the course for free or pay for the course fee during or after completion of the course. Once paying the course fee you will receive the course Certificate and you can also apply for ECTS from Aalto University after completing the course. Aalto University students receive the ECTS and a free Certificate automatically after completing the course.
  3. Upon completing the course and paying the course fee, your electronic Certificate and instructions for applying for 2 ECTS from Aalto University will be emailed to you. If you only want to read and view the course content, you can audit the course for free.
  4. You can share your course certificates in the Certifications section of your LinkedIn profile, on printed resumes, CVs, or other documents.
